Screenwriting:

THE PEACE THAT WAS BEFORE

The Peace That Was Before is a film that follows two young freeriders, Mikhailo from Ukraine and Alex from Russia, who meet to escape the memories of war and disappear for one day in the mountains.

The Peace That Was Before is directed by Paris-based Roudy Doumit and Munich-based Florian Handschuh. Margo Fortuny wrote the script, inspired by reading French and Lebanese poetry from the 1920s. The narration is from the perspective of the mountain. Lea Pietrosante of the Aegean Film Festival wrote,  “the script is strong, poetic and beautifully crafted."

The film's premiere took place in Beirut at Metropolis Cinema on September 21st, 2025 at 8:30 pm at the Lebanese Outdoor Film Festival. It was also screened at festivals including Replay International Film Festival, Proxy Act Festival, La Nuit de la Glisse Short Film Festival, and Bridge of Peace Festival. It was filmed off-piste in the Alps, on the border between France and Italy. It's an adventurous short piece of poetry, meant to question war and identity.

Acting:

In 2023, Fortuny starred in Mindf*ck, the theatrical production by the multimedia artist Ojo Último at Teatro del Barrio, Madrid. It was a surreal exploration of human interaction accompanied by live music.

In 2021, she performed and choreographed sequences in Ojo Ultimo’s play, Superinteligencia e Hiperlucidez, or SIEHL, in Madrid. The experimental work featured a psychedelic Last Supper with live music. Fortuny also collaborated on Ojo Último’s musical short film, Mandanga.

She also participated in Balthazar Klarwein’s film, Yo Diablo, dancing and drinking in the ecstatic apocalypse scene. The film was selected for numerous film festivals in 2021 and 2022. It was also screened on Filmin, the Spanish arthouse film platform.

In 2020, Fortuny had the pleasure of performing in 'Hold Up', William Mackrell's opening piece of his exhibition Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night at The Ryder Gallery. The performance featured the British artist, and Alicia Cano, Manuel León, and Margo Fortuny as "the band." They interpreted various songs Mackrell had recorded from phone hotlines as a "monument to waiting." (How relevant for 2020!) The show was photographed and recorded and pressed on vinyl as limited edition artworks.

In 2016, Fortuny collaborated with Diego & The Blue Sea on an 8 mm ultrashort film called La Flamenca Vampira . (Diego & The Blue Sea is an analogue photographer and director based between Normandy and Madrid). It’s the story of a Flamenco-loving vampire who meets a man in the woods. Is he her muse or is she his?
